Ć medida que entramos no sĆ©culo XXI, a doutrina de manobra estĆ” prestes a sofrer uma revoluĆ§Ć£o induzida pela necessidade de dispor de forƧas aeromecanizadas. A Era da InformaĆ§Ć£o caracterizada pelo conhecimento, velocidade e precisĆ£o estĆ” a suplantar o modelo de forƧa da Era Industrial, caracterizada pela massa. A necessidade de dispor de forƧas mais projectĆ”veis e prontas a ser empenhadas parece ser central Ć transformaĆ§Ć£o de forƧas em vĆ”rios paĆses ocidentais. No ExĆ©rcito PortuguĆŖs esses factores sĆ£o tambĆ©m centrais na Directiva para a TransformaĆ§Ć£o do General Chefe do Estado-maior do ExĆ©rcito, alĆ©m de ter de ser baseada na prontidĆ£o da forƧa existente. Este foi o enquadramento para o desenvolvimento do nosso Modelo Aeromecanizado, que responde tambĆ©m Ć adaptaĆ§Ć£o de forƧas ao carĆ”cter prĆ³prio das forƧas expedicionĆ”rias.
A evoluĆ§Ć£o do conceito aeromecanizado e as referĆŖncias a outros trabalhos serviram para estabelecer os critĆ©rios base para o nosso modelo, para que o ExĆ©rcito PortuguĆŖs possa dispor de uma forƧa aeromecanizada, com equipamento e tecnologia imediatamente disponĆveis, a partir de unidades da ForƧa Operacional Permanente de ExĆ©rcito (FOPE) e que possa responder Ć s necessidades do ExĆ©rcito PortuguĆŖs para o futuro, dada a sua versatilidade.
Este Trabalho Individual de Longa DuraĆ§Ć£o argumenta que, a partir das sinergias da FOPE e com a cooperaĆ§Ć£o da Marinha e da ForƧa AĆ©rea, Ć© possĆvel transformar a Brigada Aerotransportada Independente numa unidade aeromecanizada ao mesmo tempo que pode responder a missƵes em todo o espectro, factor essencial para que possa ser integrada numa NATO Response Forces. Dispor de uma forƧa 3D capaz de executar a Manobra de PrecisĆ£o e Manobra de Profundidade Ć© um passo de gigante para que o ExĆ©rcito PortuguĆŖs seja reconhecido com uma forƧa credĆvel, mesmo numa conjuntura de dificuldades financeiras na Defesa. Abstract: As we enter the 21st century, the maneuver warfare is under a revolution brought up by the need of using air-mechanized forces. The Information Age, characterized by knowledge, speed and precision is killing the model once used during the Industrial Age, characterized by mass. The need to own projectile and ready to be used weapons seems to be crucial in the transformation of the forces in several eastern countries. In the Portuguese Army, these issues are also crucial in the Transformation Guidance, by the General Chief of Staff. Besides, this guidance is also based on the readiness of the existing forces. This was the context for the development of our air-mechanized model, which also intends to answer the adaptation of the forces to the characteristics of the expeditionary forces.
The evolution of the air-mechanized concept and the bibliographic references establish the criteria for our model, so that it becomes possible for the Portuguese Army to have its own air-mechanized force, including equipment and technology ready to be used from the Army Permanent Operational Force (FOPE) units. In the future it may also fulfil the needs of the Portuguese Army, because of its versatility.
This work argues that it is possible to transform the Independent Airborne Brigade into an air-mechanized unit, thanks to the cooperation of Navy and Air Force. At the same time it can accomplish all kinds of missions, a reason of the most importance to become part of NATO Response Forces. Having 3D capable force able to carry out successfully the Precision Maneuver and the Deep Maneuver is a giant leap for the Portuguese Army, but itās a must, if we want to be seen as a reliable army, even in a time of economic problems for the Ministry of Defense.
