Abstract(s)

The concern with acquiring a healthy lifestyle combined with the practice of vegetarian and ensuring the sustainability of our planet is growing these days. Diet plays a crucial role in oral health, as a balanced diet contributes to the good functioning of the oral cavity. Vegetarian diet has an important role in reducing chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, among others. However, this diet lacks certain vitamins (example B12, B2, D) and even minerals such as calcium and iron, which are essential for the proper functioning of the oral cavity. This nutritional deficiency will lead to a greater susceptibility to erosion and tooth abrasion, to changes salivary, among other complications. This study aims to present oral health complications in the vegetarian and vegan population and try to establish replacement measures that help to address this nutritional deficiency in a way to be able to find a balance between vegetarian diet and oral health. The following databases will be consulted: PubMed, Medline, Scopus, SciELO, Web of Science and Google scholar.
