Abstract(s)

Faced with this reality, the Air Force pursued, in advance, solutions for the replacement of the Alpha Jet fleet, which did not work, in view of the funds made available for this purpose. Based on the analysis of the TX Program, the work developed by the Operations Division, and the interviews conducted with eight pilots with operational experience in F-16, in which four were Instructor Pilot of Advanced Instruction, the Air Force's options were studied, considering the current situation and future challenges. Based on an inductive reasoning methodology, based on a qualitative research and case study design, three solutions were identified for the future of Advanced Air Force Instruction, with different levels of ambition, but for the same purpose, the preparation of highly qualified pilots for the fulfilment of the missions of Sovereignty and Air Defence of Portugal.
