Abstract(s)
Segundo a minha
A visita
As part of the Master's programme in Maternal and Obstetric Health Nursing at the Escola Superior de Enfermagem do Porto, this professional internship report was developed. The aim of this report is to analyse and describe the entire process of developing the common and specific competences of the Specialist Nurse in Maternal and Obstetric Health Nursing, based on Regulation no. 140/2019 and Regulation no. 391/2019 of the Order of Nurses. To demonstrate the development of specific competences, six clinical cases were developed corresponding to the Professional Internship, one clinical case on pregnancy with complications; four clinical cases on assisting women in labour and one clinical case on assisting women and newborns in the puerperium. During my internships, particularly the puerperium internship, I became interested in developing an integrative literature review on the topic: ‘The home visit by the Specialist Nurse in Maternal and Obstetric Health Nursing as a facilitating strategy for early return home’. According to my observation, most of the puerperal women who experienced eutocic delivery verbalised their desire to return home after 24 hours, something that is currently only recommended after 48 hours of hospitalisation. I thought it would be interesting to explore this issue and try to understand how the can help to bring about an earlier return home. The EHESMO's home visit could provide a safer transition home and at the same time provide specialised care for the puerperal woman and her newborn.
