Abstract(s)
Touch is a form of nonverbal communication and support when words are insufficient. In infants, it is related to neurodevelopment and the promotion of parenting, two central areas of Child and Pediatric Health Nursing. It is the role of the Nurse Specialist in Child and Pediatric Health Nursing to invest in promoting parental empowerment in this area. The interest in this topic arose from the observation of insecurity expressed by parents, combined with the lack of uniformity in care. It is necessary to consolidate scientific knowledge about existing approaches on parental touch, in order to contribute to promoting parental empowerment regarding touch, as an effective intervention in clinical practice. This report aims to record the learning path in the various clinical teaching contexts, with a view on promoting the improvement and development of Common, Specific and Master's skills of the Nurse Specialist in Child and Pediatric Health Nursing. It is a decisive tool in the assessment of learning, based on a critical-reflective and descriptive methodology, with the aim of obtaining a Master’s degree. It is organized into two chapters, the first referring to the skills acquisition process description and the second is dedicated to a clinical practice’s proposal. Along this path, an Integrative Literature Review study was conducted with the aim of identifying in the scientific literature approaches that promote parental touch in infants, which the Nurse Specialist in Child and Pediatric Health can implement in the contexts of primary and differentiated health care. Thus, eight approaches that promote parental touch were identified, mostly unimodal, however, with a growing interest in multimodal ones. I consider it an essential contribution to my training, which resulted in added value on a personal and professional level, culminating in a specialized look at the well-being of children, young people and families.
