A internet é o meio de comunicação mais usado pelas organizações contemporâneas, aquele que permite que as mensagens cheguem de forma célere junto de públicos diversificados, a nível global e em diversos idiomas, com um investimento relativamente baixo. Inquestionavelmente, a internet transformou significativamente o comportamento do consumidor, nomeadamente no acesso à informação ou na aquisição de produtos ou serviços, mas também no modo como se cria, difunde e armazenam informações e mensagens. No caso das instituições de ensino superior a diversidade de públicos, a quantidade de informação, a internacionalização do ensino e a competitividade colocam diversos desafios ao Design dos websites que desde a informação aos idiomas, passando pelo design e costomizaçao da interface.
Neste sentido, é imperativo que as instituições motorizem e avaliem a qualidade dos seus websites como ativos estratégicos, recorrendo a princípios, procedimentos e métodos ao nível do User Experience Design.
O processo investigativo inscreve-se no campo do Design de Identidade Digital, delimitado ao tema Usabilidade de Interfaces em Websites de Instituições de Ensino Superior, tendo como principal propósito compreender como, com que critérios e requisitos proceder ao redesign do website do Politécnico de Portalegre (IPP).
Assim, considera-se que o estudo e comparação dos modelos de avaliação de websites existentes permitirá definir um modelo adequado, com o qual se poderá diagnosticar adequadamente o website do IPP.
O design informado em modelos existentes ao nível do design de interface e User Experience Design para websites de ensino superior permite o desenvolvimento mais eficiente e auxilia a tomada de decisão no redesign do website do IPP, considerando a informação, públicos, arquitetura de informação, layout e conteúdo, face a uma boa experiência de utilizador.
Nesse sentido, selecionou-se uma metodologia mista, ou seja, uma componente não Intervencionista e outra de Investigação Ativa que consistiu num estágio em design, particularmente dedicado ao redesign do website do Instituto Politécnico de Portalegre.
Como resultado da análise metodológica, prepõem-se um modelo de avaliação que integra os contributos dos autores analisados, acrescentando-lhe uma estrutura distinta que permite a interpretação dos resultados de forma operacional e direta.
Por conseguinte o modelo proposto, assenta num conjunto de critérios avaliativos identificados na literatura como essenciais à eficiência do website, permitindo avaliar não só a eficiência global do mesmo, mas também o seu desempenho na concretização de determinadas tarefas.

The internet is the most used means of communication by contemporary organizations, the one that allows messages to quickly reach diversified audiences, globally and in several languages, with a relatively low investment. Unquestionably, the Internet has significantly transformed consumer behaviour, namely in the access to information or acquisition of products or services, but also in the way information and messages are created, disseminated and stored. In the case of higher education institutions, the diversity of audiences, the amount of information, the internationalisation of education and competitiveness pose several challenges to the design of websites that range from information, to languages, to interface design and interface customisation. In this sense, it is imperative that institutions drive and evaluate the quality of their websites as strategic assets, using principles, procedures and methods at the level of User Experience Design. The investigative process falls within the field of Digital Identity Design, delimited to the theme Usability of Interfaces in Websites of Higher Education Institutions, with the main purpose of understanding how, with which criteria and requirements to proceed to the redesign of the website of the Polytechnic of Portalegre (IPP). Thus, it is considered that the study and comparison of existing website evaluation models will allow defining a suitable model, with which the IPP's website can be adequately diagnosed. The design informed by existing models of interface design and User Experience Design for higher education websites allows for a more efficient development and helps decision making in the redesign of the IPP website, considering the information, audiences, information architecture, layout and content, in view of a good user experience. In this sense, a mixed methodology was selected, i.e. a noninterventionist component and another one of Active Research, which consisted of a design internship, particularly dedicated to the redesign of the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre's website. As a result of the methodological analysis, it is proposed an evaluation model that integrates the contributions of the analysed authors, adding to it a distinct structure that allows the interpretation of the results in an operational and direct way. Therefore the proposed model is based on a set of evaluative criteria identified in the literature as essential to the website efficiency, allowing to evaluate not only its overall efficiency, but also its performance in achieving certain tasks.
