Abstract(s)
A Área
Given that the topic of sustainability is so relevant to today's society and is beginning to shape behaviours, it is important to understand how it will change tourism. The Lisbon Metropolitan Area has continued to increase the number of overnight stays and revenue in the sector since the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, and the objective of this research was to understand the behaviour of the region’s green tourists. Through a questionnaire, a profile of the green tourist in the Lisbon Region was created, along with some aspects of their journey. After conducting the survey in the main tourist areas of Lisbon, it was concluded that there is consistency between sustainable practices in daily life and during recent vacations. This means that individuals who are environmentally conscious in their day-to-day lives also maintain these concerns while on vacation. Younger respondents were found to conduct more research into the region’s sustainability practices and found it easier to choose more sustainable products/services.
