A presente dissertação tem como objetivo analisar o impacto do stress na saúde e bemestar dos Bombeiros Voluntários de Santo André. Dada a natureza exigente da profissão, os
bombeiros estão frequentemente expostos a situações de risco elevado, o que pode gerar
níveis significativos de stress, com implicações profundas na saúde física e mental, nas
relações interpessoais e no desempenho profissional.
Este estudo, de natureza descritiva e transversal, recorreu a uma abordagem quantitativa,
através da aplicação de um questionário aos bombeiros da corporação. Os dados recolhidos
revelaram que a fadiga física, a exaustão emocional e o esgotamento cognitivo são
consequências frequentes do stress ocupacional. Adicionalmente, foram identificadas várias
fontes de stress, tais como as condições de trabalho, o relacionamento com colegas e
superiores e o ritmo de trabalho.
A análise permitiu ainda concluir que a implementação de políticas de gestão de stress
eficazes é imprescindível para melhorar o bem-estar e a produtividade dos bombeiros
voluntários. Este estudo destaca a importância de intervenções focadas na saúde
ocupacional, com vista a reduzir os efeitos negativos do stress nesta classe profissional.
This dissertation aims to analyze the impact of stress on the health and well-being of the volunteer firefighters of Santo André. Given the demanding nature of their profession, firefighters are frequently exposed to high-risk situations, which can generate significant levels of stress, with profound implications for their physical and mental health, interpersonal relationships, and professional performance. This descriptive and cross-sectional study utilized a method approach, quantitative data collected through a survey administered to the firefighters. The results revealed that physical fatigue, emotional exhaustion, and cognitive burnout are frequent consequences of occupational stress. Additionally, several sources of stress were identified, including working conditions, relationships with colleagues and superiors, and the work pace. The analysis also concluded that the implementation of effective stress management policies is essential to improve the well-being and productivity of volunteer firefighters. This study highlights the importance of occupational health interventions aimed at mitigating the negative effects of stress within this professional group.
