O presente tema situa-se no campo da História, mais concretamente num período conturbado para Portugal, a Guerra Colonial.
O conflito em que Portugal se viu envolvido não era algo inédito em África. Eram tempos de mudança e Portugal não ira fugir a essa mudança nos seus territórios ultramarinos, enfrentado movimentos de libertação nacional que transformariam o conflito numa guerra de características subversivas. A guerra levou à adopção e desenvolvimento de novas doutrinas pelas Forças Armadas principalmente o Exército para poder responder às ameaças com eficácia. O nosso tema visa a análise da preponderância que as Operações Aeromóveis e Aerotransportadas tiveram na Guerra Colonial.
O nosso trabalho começa por um enquadramento conceptual, onde damos a conhecer o que era uma Operação Aeromóvel e Aerotransportada na época da Guerra Colonial, na actualidade, bem como a sua evolução no período de anos decorrido até à actualidade. Depois de darmos a conhecer o que é uma Operação Aeromóvel e Aerotransportada evidenciámos de que formas elas são importantes no contexto de uma guerra subversiva.
No capítulo dois é analisada a importância que estas operações tiveram no desenrolar das acções militares levadas a cabo nos territórios ultramarinos Portugueses e como foram conduzidas. O capítulo engloba uma análise dos meios utilizados terminando com um “case study” sobre uma acção levada a cabo pelas forças Portuguesas.
No último capítulo é feita uma síntese dos pontos mais importantes retirados do trabalho e finaliza-se com a conclusão respondendo à questão central
Abstract The present work is a history’s theme, more specifically in a troubled period for Portugal, the Colonial war. The conflict that Portugal was involved wasn’t something unprecedented in Africa. They were times of change and Portugal will not escape this change in their ultramarine territories, facing national movements that made the conflict a war of subversive characteristics. The war led to the adoption and development of new doctrines in The Military especially the Army to respond to threats effectively. Our theme concerns the analysis of the preponderance of Airmobile and Airborne Operations in the Colonial war. Our work begins with a conceptual framework where we give to know what was a Airmobile and Airborne Operation during the Colonial war, in the present, and the evolution that they had until our days. After we gave the knowledge of what is an Airmobile and Airborne Operation, we show how they are important in a subversive war context. In chapter two it is analyzed the importance that these operations had in the conduct of military actions carried out in Portuguese ultramarine territories, and how they were conducted. The chapter includes one analysis of means used in the conflict, ending with a “case study” of one action carried out by Portuguese forces. The final chapter is an analysis of the most important points from the work and ends with the conclusion by answering to the central question.
