Abstract(s)
64 anos), 60% do sexo feminino e 40% do sexo masculino.
A escala
A análise factorial
>is paper presents a Portuguese adaptation of the “Empowerment Scale” (Rogers, Chamberlin, Ellison, & Crean; 1997) in a convenience sample of healthy adults (n = 532), with an average of 37 years of age (between 18 and 64), 60% female and 40% male. We used two evaluation instruments: Sociodemographic Questionnaire and Empowerment Scale (ES). In order to evaluate scale psychometric properties we used factorial analysis and the internal consistency. >e scale demonstrated adequate internal consistency, with lower values for the #ve subscales. >e factorial analysis with #ve factors, that explain 45,5% of variance in this study, presents a slightly diBerent structure when compared with the proposed model in the original version. >e results support the adequacy of the total scale score in the study of empowerment in Portuguese population; nevertheless, the subscales structure needs a more detailed analysis
