Perceberam a

This is a qualitative study involving 15 students from Mestre Abdoulay Wade Secondary School in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, attending the 11th and 12th grades. With a sample of 9 boys and 6 girls, five intervention sessions were conducted in a classroom in March, April, and June 2025. The sessions were led remotely from Coimbra by us, the principal researcher, using videoconferencing. The results revealed an improvement in understanding and a change in mindset and opinions on the topic among the young people in the sample, comparing pre- and post-test data. They recognized the importance of discussing violence in schools, understood that certain social behaviors are misguided, and reported recognizing that women have equal rights with men and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity, not as mere objects to be manipulated. In conclusion, efforts to prevent and intervene in domestic violence against women must first involve educating the population through awareness-raising, training, and awareness-raising campaigns, not only among young people but also among community and religious leaders, given their strong influence within the community.
