Abstract(s)
Tantrums are common defiant behaviours in children, characterized by intense emotional outbursts, crying and/or screaming. They usually occur between the ages of 18 and 48 months and reflect the child's inability to express their needs and frustrations verbally, and can have various triggers, such as hunger, tiredness, frustration or the desire for autonomy. Tantrums should be prevented in the first place, but when they need to be dealt with effectively, there are various strategies that can be adopted. With this in mind, this research, which involves a group of 16 children aged between 12 and 24 months, aims not only to understand what tantrums are and in what contexts they occur, but also how to prevent them and what are the most effective strategies for dealing with them.
