Abstract(s)
mesmas baterias.
Abstract This research, under the theme "The survey as a key element of the Field Artillery System”, aims to analyze the possibility of the Survey Section, as part of Field Artillery Battalion, to participate in the Reconnaissance, Selection, and Occupation of a Position (RSOP) of the Howitzer Batteries (HWB), so that afterwards the survey elements are send directly to the Automated Command and Control System (ACCS). The methodology applied in this study was based essentially in the book “Manual de Investigação em Ciências Sociais" by Luc Van Campenhoudt Quivy and Raymond, although throughout the work other authors, considered relevant, were also referenced. During the analysis to the Field Exercise Trovão, it was possible to observe several interesting aspects, we highlight: the use of a GPS navigation system in order to determine the coordinates of each howitzer, this has proven to be very valuable; On other hand the ForwardObserverSystem (FOS) that was also used to send the survey elements directly to the ACCS, proved not to be so advantageous. According to the findings, we can conclude that having the Survey Section accompanying the RSOP of a Battery is very relevant and useful. However, this is a shortterm procedure; if we consider a re-equipment of the Battery the survey section would no longer be necessary
