O trabalho de investigação aplicada (TIA), seguidamente apresentado e subordinado
ao tema “A equitação: Um exponencial de desenvolvimento de Competências de Liderança”, incide na forma como a formação e a prática de equitação contribui para o desenvolvimento de competências de liderança, elemento essencial para os futuros Oficiais do Exército Português e da Guarda Nacional Republicana.
Para o nosso trabalho de investigação a amostra constituiu-se de 212 indivíduos praticantes e não praticantes de equitação de diferentes Instituições, níveis de formação e experiências. Através desta investigação procurou-se caracterizar e relacionar as competências de liderança dos indivíduos praticantes e não praticantes de equitação.
Para avaliar as competências de liderança auto-percepcionados pelos praticantes e não praticantes de equitação foi elaborado um inquérito com 9 dimensões de liderança: desenvolvimento do espiríto de equipa; tomada de decisão; resolução de problemas; comando e direcção; equilibrio e estabilidade emocional; auto-controlo; auto-confiança e auto-avaliação.
Do estudo concluiu-se que a prática de Equitação é um exponencial de
desenvolvimento de competências de liderança e contribui significativamente para capacitar os indivíduos de equilíbrio, estabilidade emocionale autocontrolo.
Abstract The work applied research presented below under the subject “The Equitation: An exponential of development of Leadership Skills”, occurs on the way that the formation and the practice of equitation/horsemanship contributesto the development of leadership skills, essential element to future Officers of the Portuguese Army and the National Republican Guards. Our investigation work sample was made of 212 individuals both equitation riders and non-equitation riders from different institutions, level of formation and background. Through this investigation an attempt was made to characterize and relate the leadership skills of all individuals. To study these skills a 9 competencies leadership inquiry was undertaken: development of team spirit; make dicion; solution problems; comand and direction; emotional balance; self-control, self-confidence; and self-evaluation. From this study we come to the following conclusionthat the practical one of equitation is an exponential one of development of leadership abilities and contributes significatively to anable the balance individuals, emotional stabilityand self-control.
