Abstract(s)
The cat is a species, that in the clinical context has increased significantly in recent years. They are a species that tries to hide the pain, so it becomes more difficult to understand the clinical signs and to determine the problem that the animal is facing. In addition of these agents, there is a limitation in terms of analgesia, no conditions, in particular in the selection of doses and between different agents. This work begins with a review of types of pain and the pathophysiology of pain. Then, the main contexts for pain assessment, treatments, nonpharmacological methods and the presentation of some analgesic protocols applied to the different contexts of laparotomy. As well as bringing together, the analgesic therapies available in the cat for control and guarantee the well-being and several qualities of the life of animals in the perioperative period of laparotomy. There are no better final protocols to purported therapies for perioperative that can work and provide in the most recent sources and analgesic therapies to the treatment of multimodal pain in the cat.
