Abstract(s)
The report aims to describe the training and reflective path taken, aiming to respond to the needs of personal and professional development, within the scope of the acquisition of skills of Specialist Nurse in Child and Paediatric Health. The care of the newborn's skin has become a concern, since it must be kept intact to preserve its protective function. In the context of Neonatology, the physiological immaturity of newborns, physiological instability, and the characteristics of care, which require monitoring and invasive treatments, put at risk, during the first month of life, the integrity of the skin in about 80% of newborns. The identification of the theme: Promotion of the Cutaneous Integrity of the Hospitalized Newborn: interventions of the specialist nurse, it arose from the analysis of the practices of my work context and the concern regarding the quality of care provided. The nursing frameworks are the philosophy of family-centered care, the principles of non-traumatic care, supported by Neuman's systems theory. The writing of the report was based on a descriptive methodology, of critical and reflective analysis of the activities developed in the context of the internship, based on theoretical frameworks, scientific evidence, and the professional framework for the exercise of the nursing profession. The reflection on the practice of care provided to the child and family, the learning and experiences carried out during the internship period, contributed to the development of the skills of Specialist Nurse in Child and Paediatric Health and Master, and improvement of the care provided.
