Abstract(s)
Objectives: This non-interventional investigation intends to evaluate the survival of fiberglass posts in endodontic teeth through radiographic analysis and its clinical history to fill in the datasheet. Introduction: For the rehabilitation of teeth with a coronary compromise and previously endodontic, intra-canal retention means tends to be used. Within the various types of posts, those of fiberglass have a variable survival according to several factors that will be approached and studied in this work. Fiberglass posts appeared in the 1990s and were considered an evolution for dentistry. These are a rehabilitative option that presents ease and practicality in its use in clinical practice. They allow the preservation of fragile roots and a greater retention for future restorations. They present better aesthetics, resistance to fatigue and modulus of elasticity similar to dentin. Material and methods: In the elaboration of this investigation, 19 patients were included, in which 25 endodontic teeth were studied and later rehabilitated with fiberglass poles. Patients with rehabilitated teeth with metal poles and carbon fiber were excluded. The parameters analyzed in this study were: the type of restoration of the endodontic tooth, whether or not it presents apical lesion, cementing agents, apical sealing, the location of the teeth and the times between queries. Results: The sample of this study was n = 25 (42% female and 58% male), had a success rate of 84% and survived on average 4.9 ± 1.5 years. 68% of the teeth rehabilitated with fiberglass posts present in the maxilla and 64% in the anterior sector, in relation to their coronary rehabilitation 68% have crowns, 28% restorations of composite resin and 4% is part of a bridge. In the sample, a significant association was observed between the initial lesion and the failure of the rehabilitation with fiberglass poles. Conclusion: The fiberglass posts tend to have a high durability, however, according to the analyzed parameters it was verified that, through the Fisher test, there is a factor that influences the success of its application, wich is to have periapical lesion previously to the endodontic treatment.
