dc.description.abstract	O luxo é, desde sempre, uma realidade, estando intrinsecamente ligado a toda e qualquer sociedade que tenha existido ou que exista no mundo. É então natural que desde os primórdios da humanidade até aos dias de hoje se tenha assistido a uma fusão do luxo com a vida quotidiana. Com o crescimento do turismo, a hotelaria viu-se obrigada a acompanhar o ritmo, reinventando-se ao sabor de todas as tendências a que o mercado já assistiu. E uma dessas tendências, que, com o passar dos anos, vai predominando e crescendo, adquirindo cada vez mais força e impacto no mercado hoteleiro, é a ligação do luxo à hotelaria, criando assim um dos produtos mais procurados desde sempre: a hotelaria de luxo. No entanto, e apesar de constituir uma parte bastante importante do mercado hoteleiro, não existe ainda qualquer tipo de mecanismo que seja capaz de diferenciar a hotelaria de luxo da hotelaria dita convencional, sendo aquela, na maioria das vezes, reconhecida por via de ideias pré-concebidas que a sociedade tem em geral. Assim sendo, esta dissertação procura investigar a importância do luxo, quando se terá dado o início do fenómeno que juntou a hotelaria ao luxo e qual a sua evolução ao longo dos tempos. Analisar todo este contexto no seio do mercado hoteleiro português é também ponto relevante neste estudo, tendo sido trabalhados alguns casos práticos e que se vão desenvolvendo a par da história do país e do crescimento do setor.	pt_PT
dc.description.abstract	Luxury has always been present, being intrinsically linked to any society that has existed or exists in the world: it is natural that from the dawn of humanity until today, there has been a fusion of luxury in the daily life. With the growth of tourism, the hotel industry was forced to keep up with the pace, reinventing itself in the taste of all the trends that the market has already seen. However, one of these trends that has been prevailing and growing over the years, and which is gaining more and more strength and impact in the hotel market, is the link between luxury and hospitality, creating one of the most sucessfull products ever – luxury hospitality. In spite of being a very important part of the hotel market, there is not yet any type of mechanism that is able to differentiate luxury hotels from conventional ones, most of which are often recognized by preconceived ideas that society has in general. Thus, this dissertation seeks to investigate the importance of luxury, when it was the beginning of the phenomenon that has added luxury to hotels and how they have evolved over time. Analyzing this whole context in the portuguese hotel market is also a point of reference in this study, and some practical cases have been analyzed, which are developing alongside the country's history and the growth of the sector.	pt_PT
