Abstract(s)
O presente trabalho foi elaborado no âmbito do estágio final do curso de enfermagem
veterinária no Hospital Veterinário de Loulé. O objetivo do estágio foi colocar em
prática todos os conhecimentos adquiridos ao longo do curso. A aluna teve a
oportunidade de realizar várias funções da profissão no âmbito do internamento
hospitalar, consultas, cirurgias e urgências durante os três meses de estágio curricular,
de 28 de outubro de 2020 a 20 de janeiro de 2021. Foi acompanhado o internamento
de 436 animais de companhia aos quais a aluna prestou todos os cuidados necessários e
assegurou o seu bem-estar. Foi realizada uma cesariana na qual a estagiária aplicou os
conhecimentos adquiridos durante a elaboração do trabalho tendo sido possível a
sobrevivência dos três cachorros nascidos. O maneio adequado da cadela gestante
revela-se de extrema importância para o sucesso do nascimento dos cachorros e o bem estar da fêmea. Os cuidados intensivos do neonato canino são importantes na medida
em que eleva a taxa de sobrevivência do recém-nascido. O papel do enfermeiro
veterinário na área da reprodução canina implica educar o tutor para os cuidados a ter
com a gestante e com os neonatos, assim como prestar auxílio ao médico veterinário
na cesariana e reanimação dos cachorros. O estágio permitiu o desenvolvimento
profissional e pessoal da aluna na medida em que adquiriu conhecimentos e
competências de trabalho
The present work was elaborated within the final Internship of the veterinary nursing course at the Hospital Veterinário de Loulé. The aim of the Internship was to put into practice all the knowledge acquired throughout the course. The student had the opportunity to perform various functions of the profession in the context of hospitalization, consultations, surgeries and emergencies from October 28 of 2020 till January 20 of 2021. There were hospitalized 436 pet animals to which the student provided all the necessary care and ensured their welfare. It was performed a caesarean section in which the intern applied the knowledge acquired during the preparation of the work, being possible the survival of the three born puppies. The proper management of the pregnant dog is extremely important for the success of the birth of the puppies and the welfare of the female. Intensive care of canine neonates is important as it increased the survival rate of the new-born. The role of the veterinary nurse in the area of reproduction implies to educate the tutor for the care to be taken with the pregnant female and with the new-borns, but also to assist the veterinary in caesarean section and resuscitation. The internship allowed the student's professional and personal development since she acquired knowledge and work skills
