Abstract(s)
Portugal é um destino com elevada qualificação para a prática turística, dado que dispõe
de recursos diversificados ao longo do seu território. Apresenta-se como um destino
altamente qualificado para a prática de surf que, por causa do litoral extenso e irregular,
lhe permite ter ondas para todos os graus de dificuldade.
Peniche é um dos destinos de surf em Portugal que mais turistas atrai anualmente, por
dispor de uma localização estratégica a nível territorial e, além de conter características
únicas para a prática da modalidade, apresenta também outros recursos de interesse nas
proximidades. Ademais, a procura pela dinamização e promoção do turismo de surf e da
própria modalidade per si por parte das entidades governamentais permitiu que Peniche
apresentasse um aumento gradual da procura turística e, posteriormente, fosse eleita
Capital da Onda e palco de eventos de cariz mundial, como o Rip Curl Pro Peniche
(atualmente conhecido como MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal). Assim, o turismo de surf
tornou-se relevante para Peniche a nível socioeconómico, mas também para a valorização
do património e a dinamização da imagem de marca do destino.
A investigação analisa os efeitos do turismo de surf no concelho de Peniche nas últimas
décadas, identifica a perceção dos stakeholders em relação às alterações, e quais as
medidas que podem ser implementadas a médio-longo prazo de forma a dinamizar o
turismo de surf e desenvolver o destino. Para o efeito foram realizados 99 questionários
à comunidade residente, 25 questionários a outros stakeholders previamente definidos e
109 questionários a turistas e visitantes.
A partir dos resultados obtidos foi possível compreender, de forma geral, que tanto os
turistas/visitantes como os diversos stakeholders se encontram satisfeitos com a evolução
do turismo em Peniche e consideram o turismo de surf um dos principais fatores atrativos
da região. No entanto, mostram-se conscientes relativamente a medidas associadas à
sustentabilidade nos destinos e atividades turísticas, tendo por isso, sugerido
medidas/ações que permitam a dinamização sustentável do turismo de surf em Peniche.

It presents itself as a highly qualified destination for surfing that, because of the extensive and irregular coastline, allows it to have waves for all difficulties. Peniche is one of the surf destinations in Portugal that attracts more tourists annually, once it has a strategic location at the territorial level and, besides containing unique characteristics for the practice of the sport, also presents other resources of interest nearby. Moreover, the search for the promotion and promotion of surf tourism and the modality itself by the government entities, allowed Peniche to present a gradual increase in tourist demand and, later, be elected Capital da Onda and stage of world events, such as Rip Curl Pro Peniche (nowadays knows MEO Rip Curl Portugal). Therefore, surf tourism has become relevant in the territory at the socioeconomic level, but also in the appreciation of the heritage and the enhancement of the brand image of the destination. Thus, the research goes through the analysis of the effects of surf tourism in the municipality of Peniche in the last decades, what is the perception of stakeholders in relation to the changes, and what measures can be implemented in the medium-long term in order to boost surf tourism and develop the destination. For this purpose, 99 questionnaires were carried out to the community, 25 questionnaires to previously defined stakeholders, 109 questionnaires to tourists and visitors. From the results obtained it was possible to understand that both tourists /visitors and the stakeholders are satisfied with the evolution of tourism in Peniche and consider surf tourism one of the main attractive factors of the region. However, they are aware of measures associated with sustainability in destinations and tourist activities and have suggested measures/actions that allow the sustainable promotion of surf tourism in Peniche.
