Abstract(s)
This Internship Report, integrated on Master's Degree in Nursing of Patients in Critical Condition, aims to describe the learning process and skills acquired and developed during the internship of Intensive Care Unit and Emergency department, provisioning care to the patients in critical conditions and their families. Additionally, emphasizing the rout that was taken with the objective of creating a constructive analysis and critical observations within the acquired competences, having as a baseline the concepts and fundamentals from Benner’s (2001) model of skill acquisition and her theoretical referential to which she grounded his professional endeavours. Technological advances have created new challenges and expanded our horizons, it is the nurse’s duty to express himself/herself with those new resources, incorporating them into their human approach, improving their quality in nurse care and obtaining gains in health in regards to their patients. The “Approach and Monitoring Airway in Person in Critical Situation subjected to Invasive Mechanical Ventilation” shows itself as a predilectic theme, engaging the stimuli of nurses, intentionally occurring as scientifically evidence to explore and to further develop skills, serving as a guide to new wisdoms and competences, being the main objective to maintain and recover vital functions from a person in critical condition. Monitoring and enhancing the quality of nursing care requires clinical premonition from the nurse. Knowing how to identify potential dangerous situations precociously and having clinical knowledge is a precious skill. Having that as a premise, monitoring a person in critical condition, subjected to invasive mechanical ventilation, requires experienced nurses, with vast knowledge, able to recognize and intervene in critical situations while trying to prevent any recurrence (Benner Kyriakidis, & Stannard, 2011).
