Abstract(s)
O comportamento das pessoas, em relação à prática de exercício físico e hábitos alimentares, tem implicações na
prevenção das doenças e na promoção da saúde. O objectivo do estudo foi investigar a relação entre dois comportamentos
de saúde (alimentação saudável e prática de exercício físico) e a percepção do estado de saúde, no seu
componente físico e componente mental.
Participaram no estudo 339 indivíduos, com idade média de 36 anos (entre os 23 e 60 anos), 69,9% do sexo feminino
e 30,1% do sexo masculino. É uma amostra de conveniência, constituída por profissionais de saúde (57,5%)
e professores (42,5%).
Usamos três instrumentos de avaliação: um Questionário Sóciodemográfico e de Actividade Física, um Questionário
de Hábitos Alimentares e um Questionário de Percepção do Estado de Saúde (SF-12).
Os resultados indicam que os hábitos alimentares e a actividade física não atingem os níveis preconizados para
alcançar os melhores ganhos em saúde. Verifica-se uma associação positiva entre os hábitos alimentares saudáveis
e a prática de exercício físico, bem como uma associação positiva entre a prática de exercício e uma melhor
percepção do estado de saúde, no componente físico e no componente mental. Não se verificaram diferenças
estatisticamente significativas entre os dois grupos profissionais.
People´s behavior regarding physical exercise and eating habits has implications in disease prevention and health promotion. Be aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between two health behaviors (healthy diet and physical exercise practice) and health perception, in both physical and mental components. Be study includes 339 individuals, with an average of 36 years of age (between the age of 20 and 60), 69,9% female and 30,1% male. It is a convenience sample, consisting of health professionals (57,5%) and teachers (42,5%). We used three evaluation instruments: Sociodemographic and Physical Activity Questionnaire, an Eating Habits Questionnaire and a Health Perception Questionnaire (SF-12). Be results indicated that eating habits and physical activity do not reach the levels recommended to achieve the best gains in health. We found a positive association between healthy eating habits and physical exercise practice, as well as a positive association between physical exercise and a better perception of health status, both in the physical and mental components. Bere were no statistically signi#cant diDerences between the two professional groups.
