Abstract(s)
O objetivo deste trabalho é demonstrar a importância estratégica para a NATO de um dos principais bastiões russos no que se refere à buzzword A2/AD: a região do Mar Negro (Howard, 2016).
Seguindo uma estratégia qualitativa, conseguiu-se assim, um estudo abrangente onde foi possível verificar algumas das relações entre os principais atores da região do Mar Negro, desde o ano de 2014 (anexação da Crimeia pela Rússia) até abril de 2017.
Quanto ao nível de análise, o estudo centrou-se principalmente nos dois principais atores da região: a NATO e a Rússia. Esta delimitação, trouxe a desvantagem de não se conseguir analisar mais profundamente os restantes atores da região (países litorais do Mar Negro).
Do estudo foi possível concluir que a NATO, nos anos seguintes a 2014 e até ao início deste ano, andou focada na região do Báltico não tendo conseguido acompanhar o desenvolvimento russo na região do Mar Negro. Apenas com a Reunião do Conselho de Ministros do início de 2017, a NATO demonstrou a sua preocupação com a região adotando assim novas medidas, tendo-se concluído que a importância estratégica desta região, para a Aliança, é, primordialmente, a contenção da Rússia. Abstract: The main goal for this study is demonstrate the strategic importance to NATO from one of the main Russian bastions in what A2/AD buzzword concerns: the Black Sea area (Howard, 2016).
Following a qualitative strategy, a comprehensive study was carried out where it was possible to verify some of the relationships between the main players in the Black Sea region, from 2014 (annexation of the Crimea by Russia) until April 2017.
This study focused mainly on the two main actors in the region: NATO and Russia. This delimitation brought the disadvantage of not being able to analyze more deeply the other actors of the region (coastal countries of the Black Sea).
From the study it was possible to conclude that NATO, in the years after 2014 and earlier this year, was focused on the Baltic region, having failed to keep up with Russian development in the Black Sea region. Only with the meeting of the Council of Ministers in early 2017, NATO expressed its concern for the region by adopting new measures and concluded that the strategic importance of this region for the Alliance is primarily the containment of Russia.
