Abstract(s)
sociedade portuguesa e a nível global.
limitado a problemática apenas à infância e à adolescência.
características do fenómeno.
Child-to-parent violence has been increasing substantially globally and within Portuguese society. Despite its sudden increase, very little is known about this issue that has been identified as a consequence of modernity. One of the most plausible reasons for its rapid growth was due to the socio-cultural changes that have guided today's societies, which have led to changes in the educational level, in terms of values and in the way young people today are perceived and protected, leaving the parents in a more fragile situation to suffer these attacks, having no help or tools at their disposal to be able to educate their own child. The purpose of this investigation was to understand the socio-cultural factors that most influence the appearance of violence from children to parents, in a specific age group that is the emerging adulthood. The bibliography has limited the problem only to childhood and adolescence. However, some studies have arisen that defend the importance of leaving this limitation and expanding the concept to other age groups, to collect new characteristics of the phenomenon. Testimonies were collected from professionals who have contact or have already had contact with these types of cases, in order to collect their perceptions about the phenomenon. It was realized through the interviews, that the main socio-cultural factor that most influences child-to-parent violence in adulthood is due to the economic dependence, which has been guiding the daily lives of young people. However, it was also noticed that this factor, although more characteristic of this population, is not decisive, and that the problem has been occurring since childhood, namely in terms of education.
