e4Nursing.
This report is part of the course "Professional Internship with Report - Module II", which is part of the syllabus for the 1st Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Nursing, taught by the Escola Superior de Enfermagem do Porto. Thus, this report reflects the process of acquiring and developing competences as a Specialist Rehabilitation Nurse and Master's Competences, with the aim of describing this process, in which a systematised Rehabilitation Nursing intervention was developed that addressed "The Person with Commitment in Balance: Contribution of Specialist Rehabilitation Nurses". Objectives were defined with the aim of developing the competences recommended for the Specialist Nurse in Rehabilitation Nursing, in conjunction with the Dublin descriptors for the acquisition of the master's degree and also in order to respond to the problem under study, based on the analysis and reflection of the activities developed in the different contexts of clinical practice, adopting Orem's Self-Care Theory and Meleis' Transitions Theory as conceptual references. Two descriptive case studies were carried out in accordance with the Nursing Ontology, using the e4Nursing platform. The Professional Internship enabled the development and consolidation of the Common Competences of the Specialist Nurse, as well as the Specific Competences and Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Nursing, with a special focus on the area of attention: Balance. The systematisation of rehabilitation nursing care proved capable of improving the recovery of body balance in people with Chiari Syndrome and people with ischaemic stroke, maximising their functionality, autonomy and promoting social participation. The training programme proved to enhance personal and professional growth, with the acquisition and development of the common and specific competences of the Nurse Specialising in Rehabilitation Nursing.
