Abstract(s)
Trabalhar em oncologia pediátrica é desafiante pela necessidade de acompanhar a
evolução técnico científica nesta área. Mas os profissionais, e fundamentalmente os
profissionais de enfermagem, vivenciam stresses que decorrem da vulnerabilidade das
crianças, das famílias e das perdas que enfrentam. O trabalho neste contexto pode
comprometer a saúde de quem cuida, comprometendo a qualidade de cuidados. Este
trabalho visa o estudo das vivências dos enfermeiros enquanto prestadores de cuidados a
crianças com doença oncológica e sua família. Desenvolveu-se um estudo exploratório de
cariz qualitativo. Foram definidos os seguintes objetivos: Conhecer as experiências dos
enfermeiros que prestam cuidados a crianças / família com doença oncológica;
Compreender quais os fatores percecionados pelos enfermeiros como facilitadores da
prestação de cuidados de enfermagem à criança / família com cancro; Compreender quais
os fatores percecionados pelos enfermeiros como dificultadores da prestação de cuidados
de enfermagem à criança / família com cancro; Conhecer em que medida a prestação de
cuidados à criança / família com cancro influencia a vida pessoal dos enfermeiros. A
colheita de dados foi feita através de entrevista semiestruturada, a nove enfermeiros do
serviço de pediatria médica do Hospital Pediátrico Integrado do Centro Hospitalar São João
E.P.E que prestam cuidados a crianças com doença oncológica. A informação obtida foi
analisada recorrendo à técnica de análise de conteúdo segundo Bardin.
Dos dados emergiram três domínios: Conceção da doença; Trabalhar em oncologia;
Vivências em oncologia. O estudo demonstrou que as vivências dos profissionais são
influenciadas pela opção ou não por trabalhar na área, pela (não) formação na oncologia
pediátrica, pela gratificação do cuidar, pelas relações construídas, pelas dificuldades
sentidas, pelo confronto com a terminalidade, pelos sentimentos que emergem, e pelas
implicações na vida pessoal e familiar.
Perante os desafios da prática em oncologia pediátrica, este estudo ressalta a importância
de repensar a formação nesta área, bem como a necessidade de criar estratégias nas
instituições em saúde que visem a saúde dos profissionais de saúde, no sentido de
contribuir para uma prática mais humana e humanizadora dos cuidados.
Working in pediatric oncology is a challenge in the need to keep up with scientific technical developments in this area. Professionals, and fundamentally nursing professionals experience stresses arising from the vulnerability of children, families and the losses that they feel. The work in this context may compromise the health of those who care, compromising the quality of care. This work has as objetives to explory the experiences of nurses as caregivers to children with oncological diseases and their families. We developed an exploratory study of qualitative nature. The following objectives were defined: To know the experiences of nurses providing care to children / family with oncological diseases; Understanding what factors percecionados by nurses as facilitating the provision of nursing care to the child / family with cancer; Understanding what factors percecionados by nurses as hindering the provision of nursing care to the child / family with cancer; Know to what extent the provision of care to children / family with cancer affects the personal lives of nurses. The data collection was made through semi-structured interviews, nine nurses from medical pediatrics service of the Centro Integrado Infantil Hospital de São João EPE who care for children with oncological diseases. The information obtained was analyzed using the analysis of technical content according to an author, Laurence Bardin. The results emerged three areas: Conception of the disease; Working in oncology; Experiences in Oncology. The study showed that the experiences of professionals are influenced by choice or not to work in the area, by (not) training in pediatric oncology, for the gratification of care, the relationships built by the difficulties experienced by the confrontation with terminal, by feelings emerge, and the implications for personal and family life. This study emphasizes the importance of re-thinking the training in this area, as well as the need to create strategies in health institutions aimed at the health professionals, to contribute to a more humane practice and humanizing care.
