O presente estudo visa abordar de que maneira a nova era digital, era do surgimento das redes sociais impacta a ansiedade social, e consequentemente, a comunicação dos jovens da Geração Z, nativos desta era digital, como também verificar se o apoio social teve algum efeito sobre esses acontecimentos. Os objetivos específicos deste estudo foram verificar (1) de que maneira o uso das redes sociais impactam a comunicação da Geração Z no local de trabalho, (2) investigar de que maneira a ansiedade impacta a utilização das redes sociais na comunicação da Geração Z, (3) perceber se o apoio social dentro do local de trabalho influencia o impacto da ansiedade na comunicação, na Geração Z, (4) e por fim investigar se a ansiedade explica o uso das redes sociais na comunicação e entender se a relação entre a ansiedade e o tipo de comunicação são influenciados pelo apoio social. A amostra é constituída por 181 participantes, com idades compreendidas entre os 17 e os 27. Descobriu-se que o uso das redes sociais impacta negativamente na comunicação; a ansiedade media a relação entre o uso das redes sociais e comunicação. O uso das redes sociais aumenta a ansiedade, o que, por sua vez, afeta negativamente a comunicação; em suma, ansiedade media a relação entre o uso das redes sociais e a comunicação, e esta mediação é significativamente moderada pelo nível de apoio social fornecido pelos supervisores. Acredita-se que o presente estudo contribua para entender e melhorar a comunicação no local de trabalho e o apoio à saúde mental, ao promover hábitos digitais saudáveis e uma liderança empática adaptada às necessidades dos trabalhadores da Geração Z.
The present study aims to explore how the new digital era, marked by the rise of social media, impacts social anxiety and, consequently, the communication of Generation Z, who are natives of this digital age. Additionally, it seeks to examine whether social support has any effect on these phenomena. The specific objectives of this study were to investigate (1) how the use of social media affects Generation Z’s communication in the workplace, (2) how anxiety impacts the use of social media in Generation Z's communication, (3) whether social support within the workplace influences the impact of anxiety on communication in Generation Z, and (4) whether anxiety explains the use of social media in communication and if the relationship between anxiety and communication type is influenced by social support. The sample consisted of 181 participants, aged between 17 and 27. It was found that social media usage negatively impacts communication; anxiety mediates the relationship between social media use and communication. Social media use increases anxiety, which in turn negatively affects communication. In short, anxiety mediates the relationship between social media use and communication, and this mediation is significantly moderated by the level of social support provided by supervisors. It is believed that this study contributes to understanding and improving workplace communication, as well as mental health support, by promoting healthy digital habits and empathetic leadership tailored to the needs of Generation Z workers.
