A descolonização dos ex-territórios ultramarinos em África constituiu um dos aspetos centrais da política portuguesa após a revolta militar do 25 de abril de 1974. Nesse sentido, a presente investigação teve como principal finalidade o aprofundamento de conhecimento sobre os contornos que envolveram o processo de descolonização e, em particular, o papel que os militares tiveram neste processo. Este trabalho de investigação descreve as causas e a influência do contexto político no processo de descolonização, caracteriza o modelo português de descolonização e analisa a influência que os militares tiveram na sua implementação, particularmente em Moçambique. Das primeiras conclusões da investigação realça-se a influência do estado de espírito dos militares portugueses, particularmente os colocados no ultramar, na condução das negociações com os movimentos independentistas e na posterior implementação do processo de descolonização. Abstract: The decolonization of the overseas ex-territories in Africa constituted one of the central aspects of the Portuguese politics after the military revolt of the 25th of April of 1974. In this sense, the present investigation took as purpose, the deepening of knowledge on the contours which involved the decolonization process and in particular, the paper that the military had in this process. This investigation research describes the causes and the influence of the political context in the decolonization process, characterizes the Portuguese decolonization model and analyses the influence that the military had in its implementation, particularly in Mozambique. Of the first conclusions of the investigation is highlighted the influence of the state of mind of the Portuguese military, particularly the placed ones in overseas, in the conduction of the negotiations with the independence movements and in the posterior implementation of the decolonization process.
