Abstract(s)
“Vertical Dimension of occlusion”, “Increased Vertical Dimension”.
The present dissertation approaches concepts and principles related to the increase of vertical dimension. There are many procedures applied in current clinical practice in order to return the shape and function of dental pieces that eventually are lost through the various etiologies related to this subject. It has been a subject discussed for many decades and there is still no consensus. There has been increasing interest on the part of clinicians and researchers, it is also one of the most frequent alterations to the normal functioning of the stomatognathic system. As such, it is necessary to understand how the biological and functional enhancement techniques are based, the use of these procedures, their limitations, and how it is possible to return the aesthetics to the patient Thus, a bibliographic search was done using the Medline / Pubmed search engine, inserting the following keywords: "Vertical Dimension", "Vertical Dimension of occlusion", "Increased Vertical Dimension".
