Abstract(s)
Neste trabalho caraterizou-se o Ambiente Operacional (AO) de Angola em 1961, com recurso ao modelo de análise da Intelligence Preparation of Battlefield para operações de estabilização, e identificaram-se as principais alterações com reflexo no emprego das forças terrestres até 1974.
As caraterísticas do AO condicionaram Portugal a adotar uma estratégia de poupança de recursos para combater as suas limitações, as caraterísticas do teatro de operações e as táticas da ameaça.
A doutrina difundida, inicialmente, foi atualizada para refletir a transformação de paradigma duma guerra convencional para a contrassubversão. As principais alterações na organização das forças e na instrução e treino refletiram, respetivamente, uma resposta à dispersão territorial da ameaça e a necessidade de melhorar qualitativamente os níveis de formação das forças mobilizadas. Ao nível tático, realça-se a implementação da flexibilização de forças e a utilização de forças intervenção, especialistas em contrassubversão, de forma a recuperar a iniciativa no conflito. Abstract: This work characterized the Operational Environment (OE) of Angola in 1961, using the Intelligence Preparation of Battlefield for stabilization operations model of analysis, and were identified the main changes with impact on land forces operations until 1974.
The OE characteristics conditioned Portugal to adopt a resource-saving strategy to face national limitations, the theater of operations characteristics and the tactics of the threat.
The initially divulged doctrine was updated to reflect the transformation of the paradigm of a conventional warfare to an unconventional warfare. The main changes in the units organization and training and preparation reflected a response to territorial dispersion of the threat and the need to improve qualitative levels of training.
The main change at the tactical level was the implementation of flexible units in the Area of Operations and the use of intervention units (reserve), experts in unconventional warfare, in order to regain the initiative in the conflict.
