Abstract(s)
Clinical Supervision has a crucial role in achieving a quality nursing practice since the supervisory process may lead to questioning of actions to improve more meaningful care to patients. The supervisory process must also allow the skill development, providing encouragement and personal and professional support to nurses. It is therefore necessary that the clinical supervisor implements dynamic and individualized monitoring strategies, in order to promote the development of each nurse. This research aims to improve the quality of care through the identification of clinical supervision strategies appropriate to the supervisory processes in use in the different contexts of health. The objective of the present study is to identify the frequency in which clinical supervision in nursing strategies are implemented in health services. This research is part of a quantitative paradigm and it is a descriptive, exploratory and cross study. The non-probabilistic sample consists in 273 nurses of different wards and institutions. Data were collected through the application of the Questionnaire of Frequency Assessment of Clinical Supervision in Nursing Strategies, from May to September of 2012. As conclusion of the study we highlight that the clinical supervision in nursing strategies that nurses report as the most implemented in health services are observation, demonstration and support.
