Abstract(s)
do aconselhamento parental.
consolidar conhecimentos, treinar habilidades e, assim, desenvolver as competências
vital.
The final internship report represents the closure of a process aimed at developing specialised skills in both common and specific areas of Child and Paediatric Health Nursing within the scope of the "Internship with Professional Report" course unit, integrated into the curriculum of the Master's Degree program in Child and Paediatric Health Nursing, which is part of the postgraduate training at the Porto Nursing School. As a crucial component of this process, the professional internship occurred during Modules I and II, spanning the second and third trimesters of the course. It took place in diverse healthcare settings, encompassing both specialised healthcare and primary healthcare, with the objective of honing specialised clinical skills. Furthermore, a professional development project was conceived and executed, focusing on the theme "Management of newborn and infant crying", which was subsequently implemented through activities during the four professional internships. The report endeavours to elucidate, through a critical-reflective analysis, the learning journey and acquisition of both general and specific competencies of the Specialist Nurse in Child and Paediatric Health Nursing, with particular emphasis on the theme: "Management of newborn and infant crying". To accomplish this objective, extensive research was conducted in various sources including books, regulations, guidelines, and databases to gather pertinent information on the subject. The E4nursing Platform was also employed to explain the care conception in the four selected clinical cases. The research conducted identified key themes such as crying as a mode of communication, cultural disparities concerning the meaning attributed to crying, management of inconsolable crying, and its consequences on parents and children, highlighting the significance of parental guidance. These findings align with the insights gleaned from the initial research, validating the relevance of this theme in the realm of child and paediatric nursing care. The process of skills enhancement was dynamic and intensive, centred on securing learning opportunities within each clinical setting, encompassing the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Paediatric Oncology Ward, Paediatric Accident & Emergency Department, and Community Care Unit. Throughout these placements, I was able to harness and solidify knowledge, refine skills, and thereby cultivate the requisite competencies to deliver adept care to children across their lifespan.
