Abstract(s)
During an emergency situation, several factors are present, involving high levels of stress, anxiety, fear, revolt in the experience of the child, family and health professionals, being evident in scientific production that the presence of the family with the child is fundamental, but in practice it is not always valued. Health professionals, especially nurses, have the function of involving the family and developing care that responds to the family's needs, and they must know how to choose the right way and the right moment to address them, with the aim of reducing anxiety, seeking to positively transform the emotional experience, this emotional work being the main focus of my project. In this way, the nurse transforms a generally difficult and distressing experience, into a more positive and rewarding experience. This report aims to answer the problem - the nurse's emotional work with the child's family in critical condition - as well as demonstrating the development of specialized skills. This development was based on a reflective, practical and critical methodology, based on reflection in action, on Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring, Paula Diogo's Model of Emotional Work in Pediatric Nursing and fundamental concepts in pediatric nursing, such as care family-centered, care partnership, empowerment or non-traumatic care. In this learning path, stand out two norms in the light of the emotional work model, as well as a guide for practices with the family of the child in critical condition, which generated changes in the daily practice of my workplace. The interventions carried out in the light of the model of emotional work in pediatric nursing, allow a reduction of stress and anxiety, promoting the well-being of the dyad and a positive experience.
