Abstract(s)
O trabalho apresentado foi realizado no âmbito do estágio final do curso de enfermagem
veterinária na Clínica Medivet, localizada em Beja, com o objetivo de colocar em prática
os conhecimentos adquiridos ao longo do curso. As atividades realizadas pelo aluno
passaram por diferentes áreas, como: internamento, consultas, cirurgias e urgências,
com duração de 3 meses, com início a 12 de fevereiro e termino a 3 de maio de 2024.
O aluno teve oportunidade de acompanhar vários animais com diferentes enfermidades,
o que contribuiu beneficamente para a evolução na aprendizagem do mesmo.
Relativamente ao tema abordado, o aluno teve oportunidade de visualizar e auxiliar 3
cesarianas em cadelas. O acompanhamento antes, durante e após a gestação é
fundamental, pois o maneio adequado durante esta fase assegura uma maior taxa de
sucesso do nascimento das crias e o bem-estar da progenitora. O enfermeiro veterinário
tem um papel importante na área de reprodução, no auxílio ao médico veterinário, na
reanimação neonatal, nos cuidados após a cesariana e informar os tutores, os cuidados
que devem ter nos primeiros meses de vida dos neonatos.
This report is based on the final externship at Medivet Clinic, in Beja, for degree +in veterinary nursing. The aim of this externship is to consolidate the knowledge acquired during graduation. During 3 months, between the 12th of February, 2024 and the 3rd of May, 2024, the student was able to carry out different activities in different areas. The opportunity of following several cases in different areas such as hospitalisation, surgery, and appointments, including emergencies, has positively contributed to the student's knowledge. Regarding the subject of this work, the student had the opportunity to assist in 3 caesarean surgeries. Monitoring during the whole pregnancy including before and after, is essential once an appropriate management during this phase ensures a higher success rate for newborns surviving and in mother's wellbeing. Veterinary nurse has an important role in reproduction department, assisting the veterinarian surgeon, helping with neonatal resuscitation, and also taking care of the patient after caesarean surgery. Another important role is providing information for tutors about the necessary care that should be taken in the first months of newborn ́s life.
