dc.description.abstractFace às necessidades impostas pelas características do atual campo de batalha, independentemente da natureza do conflito, desde o combate convencional até às operações de manutenção de paz, tem-se verificado, ao longo dos anos, que existe a necessidade de cada vez mais executar operações conjuntas, onde forças de diferentes ramos das forças armadas, trabalham em apoio mútuo. Este tipo de operações está mais evidente na necessidade requerida pelas forças terrestres em se fazerem apoiar por meios aéreos. No entanto, para que tal aconteça, é necessário empregar um Joint Terminal Attack Controller, sendo-lhe incumbida a responsabilidade de integrar os meios aéreos em apoio à manobra terrestre, sempre de acordo com a intenção do comandante, e ajudando o mesmo no processo de tomada de decisão. Assim, e de forma a delimitar um pouco a abrangência desta temática, visto que o Joint Terminal Attack Controller consegue ser empregue e adaptar-se a qualquer tipo de força, seja esta convencional ou não convencional, prestando o apoio necessário independentemente do tipo de operação terrestre, este trabalho de investigação tem como objetivo compreender o emprego do Joint Terminal Attack Controller nas diversas operações levadas a cabo pelas tropas Comando no Teatro de Operações da República Centro-Africana e como este pode levar ao sucesso das mesmas. Para esta investigação foi adotada uma metodologia baseada no raciocínio indutivo, sendo que, no final da investigação é dada resposta às perguntas derivadas e de seguida à pergunta de partida. A recolha de dados para esta investigação foi essencialmente conduzida através de uma análise documental para a realização de uma revisão de literatura sistemática e também através da análise de dezasseis entrevistas semiestruturadas. Por conseguinte, esta investigação encontra-se dividida em duas partes, sendo a primeira parte composta pela sustentação teórica, onde é exposta a revisão da literatura e a segunda pelo enquadramento metodológico e pelo trabalho de campo. Com o concluir da investigação, verificou-se que os meios e os métodos usados por estes elementos neste Teatro de Operações são os adequados e, aos olhos dos comandantes das diversas subunidades, destacadas para este teatro, o emprego do Joint Terminal Attack Controller nas operações das tropas Comando, é bem referenciado devido à elevada importância na coordenação do apoio aéreo. Também foi verificado que os Joint Terminal Attack Controller são essenciais para o sucesso das missões, embora enfrentem limitações referentes aos meios aéreos da Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic, inerentes à sua disponibilidade, escassez e restrições de utilização.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractFaced with the needs imposed by the characteristics of the current battlefield, regardless of the nature of the conflict, from conventional combat to peacekeeping operations, over the years there has been an increasing need to carry out joint operations, where forces from different branches of the armed forces work in mutual support. This type of operation is most evident in the need for ground forces to be supported by air assets. However, for this to happen, it is necessary to employ a Joint Terminal Attack Controller, who is responsible for integrating air assets in support of ground maneuver, always in accordance with the commander's intentions and helping him in the decision-making process. Therefore, in order to narrow down the scope of this subject a little, given that Joint Terminal Attack Controller can be used and adapted to any type of force, whether conventional or unconventional, providing the necessary support regardless of the type of ground operation, the aim of this research is to understand the use of Joint Terminal Attack Controller in the various operations carried out by commando troops in Central African Republic Theater of Operations and how it can lead to their success. For this research, a methodology based on inductive reasoning was adopted, whereby, at the end of the research, the derived questions are answered and then the starting question is answered. Data collection for this research was essentially conducted through a documentary analysis to carry out a systematic literature review and also through the analysis of sixteen semi-structured interviews. This research is therefore divided into two parts: the first part consists of the theoretical framework, where the literature review is presented, and part two consists of the methodological framework and the fieldwork. At the end of the research, it was found that the means and methods used by these elements in this Theater of Operations are adequate and, in the eyes of the commanders of the various subunits deployed to this theater, the use of Joint Terminal Attack Controller in the operations of the Commando troops is highlighted due to the high importance of coordinating air support. It was also found that the Joint Terminal Attack Controller is essential to the success of missions, although they face limitations with regard to Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic air resources, inherent in their availability, scarcity and restrictions on use.pt_PT
