Abstract(s)
possam ajudar a explicar a solidão nestes residentes.
região do Porto.
quanto aos fatores organizacionais e externos à organização; áreas de intervenção a melhorar;
Resultados: A amostra final inclui 43 DTs (idade média=40 anos; 88,4% sexo feminino). O
Background: This work is part of a research project “Strategic interventions to combat loneliness among elderly people in Nursing Home (NH): current challenges, coordinated by CLISSIS, and its main objective is to characterize the perception of Technical Directors (DTs) in NH of Porto region, regarding organizational factors and outside factors that may help explain loneliness in institutionalized older people. Methods: This cross-sectional study included a sub-sample of TDs of NH located in the Porto region. These were contacted via institutional email, with the study presentation. Upon acceptance, they completed a Questionnaire Survey with the sections: sociodemographic characterization of the TDs; characterization of the institution; DTs' perception of organizational and external factors; areas of intervention to improve; training topics to invest in; characterization of users and employees. The SPSS statistical program was used for descriptive data analysis. Results: The final sample included 43 TDs (mean age=40 years; 88,4% female). The organizational factor considered to be most relevant by the DTs was the existence of mental health problems (47,8%). As for external factors, it was the lack of quality relationships with the family (48%). The most indicated area of intervention was establishing more partnerships with the outside world (40%). Dementia care (64%) was the most valued topic for training. Discussion: The study appears as a contribution to a greater understanding of the factors associated with loneliness in NH, from the perspective of TDs and could help define and implement more effective interventions at institutional level.
