Abstract(s)
The present thesis about innovative teaching methods in early childhood education concerning primary school is to determine whether students have some kind of preference for a teaching method applied at this stage of schooling. Overall, if the activities proposed are happily accepted by the children it is very important and relevant to know if the method of teaching applied is of their satisfaction or does not make any difference. This research analyzed the reaction of students in Science classes, using a routine of different ways of teachings, in which there were implemented two types of pedagogical practices. The presented innovative teaching methods were interspersed with traditional classes, being both techniques subsequently evaluated by the students through questionnaires. Thus, Science students from three different years and classes were analyzed, at a school that follows an International curriculum of teaching, also being the only Islamic private school in Portugal. At the end of this research, it was possible to conclude that from an early stage, students have their preferences towards the methods applied, however the classes with an innovative element are more desirable.
