Abstract(s)
With the rapid pace of technological and generational change, tradition has often been perceived as a barrier to innovation. However, this view is reductive, as the past can provide a solid foundation for developing new solutions that address current needs. The research is based on the values and practices of studio Design by Miguel Soeiro, the company where the curricular internship was conducted, and is structured into two main parts. The first, a theoretical framework, explores the project methodologies used in the field of Product Design and examines the importance of merging traditional approaches with contemporary practices. The second, of a practical nature, describes the role of the intern during the internship period within the host company, linking these activities to the conclusions drawn from the review of the state of the art. In doing so, the study seeks to demonstrate that Design, when consciously integrating traditional elements and techniques into design thinking processes, can generate more authentic and sustainable solutions with meaningful cultural and social impact.
