O presente Trabalho de Investigação Aplicada encontra-se subordinado ao tema “O
Espectro das Operações Militares e o Desenvolvimento das Unidades de
Reconhecimento”.
Atualmente vivesse num mundo em constante mutação, onde a necessidade de informação assume um papel primordial.
Sendo as unidades de Reconhecimento as responsáveis pela recolha dessa mesma
informação em termos militares, é objetivo deste trabalho descortinar quais os desenvolvimentos mais relevantes tidos nestas unidades.
Para tal, este trabalho encontra-se dividido em duas partes fundamentais. A primeira
parte alberga um enquadramento teórico relativo às características dos atuais conflitos,assim como as missões desenvolvidas pelas unidades de Reconhecimento. A segunda parte
acomoda o estudo referente às unidades de Reconhecimento dos Estados Unidos da
América (EUA), os estudos de caso bem como a comparação entre as unidades de
Reconhecimento dos Exército dos EUA e do Exército Português.
A metodologia empregue foi a dedutiva respeitando as etapas projetadas por Quivy,
tendo por base a análise documental e entrevista com o objetivo de determinar quais as alterações levadas a cabo no Reconhecimento.
Concluímos que os desenvolvimentos tidos nas unidades de Reconhecimento foram
observados em várias áreas, no entanto os relativos à formação dos oficiais e sargentos, assim como os respeitantes ao equipamento e organização foram aqueles que mais avanços
alcançaram.
Abstract The present study of Applied Research belongs to the subject "The Spectrum of Military Operations and The Development Units of Reconnaissance." Nowadays we live in a changing World, where the need for information plays a major role. Being the Reconnaissance Units responsible for collecting such information, in military terms, the objective of this study is to unveil the most relevant developments which have been taken in these units. To this end, this work consists of two main sections. The first part contains a theoretical framework concerning the characteristics of the current conflicts as well as the missions undertaken by Reconnaissance Units. The second part accommodates the study regarding the units Reconnaissance of the U.S., case studies as well as the comparison between the units of the U.S. Army Reconnaissance and Portuguese Army. The methodology employed was the deductive steps designed by respecting Quivy, based on the records and interviews in order to determine the changes carried out in Reconnaissance. We conclude that the developments taken in Reconnaissance Units were of various kinds, however, concerning the Training of officers and sergeants, as well as those relating to equipment and organization, were those who achieved more progresso.
