Abstract(s)
The present study employs a mixed methodology, utilising a qualitative analysis with the objective of elucidating the perceptions of producers and consumers regarding the food waste reduction business model of Cooperative X. Data was gathered through semi-structured interviews with 12 producers, followed by a quantitative analysis with data collected through a questionnaire from 166 consumers. The study results indicated that there were no statistically significant differences between the perceptions of the effectiveness of the Cooperative X business model held by producers and consumers. However, producers did present a higher score. Additionally, the results indicated that environmental sustainability had the most significant impact, in comparison to social and economic sustainability. Furthermore, a strong correlation was observed between Cooperative X's business model and food waste reduction. This suggests that producers perceive an increasing awareness of sustainability among consumers, particularly among younger individuals. They recognise that this model contributes to reducing food waste and encourages the development of more sustainable practices in the region.
