Abstract(s)
A primeira, é
derivadas e a questão central.
Abstract This Applied Research Work is subordinate the theme of “The evolution of the Portuguese Paratroopers Forces since their creation to the present day”. The intent of this research is to analyze and study the evolution of the paratroopers since their creation till the present day. The paratroopers are a Portuguese special force, with the ability to use air envolvement as it’s main characteristic, making them an important capability at a commander’s disposal. The purpose of this research is to understand how the paratroopers evolved since their creation, analyzing their concept of employment and the organizational, personnel and materiel changes. Thus, we intend to analyze the passage of those forces from the Portuguese Air Force to the Portuguese Army, studying the benefits and consequences of this change of branch for the three actors involved. The methodology applied in this study was based on Raymond Quivy and Luc Van Campenhoudt through its “Handbook of Research in Social Sciences”. This study is divided into four parts. The first concerns the introduction of the theme; in the second focuses on the literature review that adresses the entire evolution of the paratroopers till the present day; the third part includes an explanation of the techniques and methods used and the results obtained through the interviews; finally, we conclude by verifying the hypotheses in order to obtain answers for the questions formulated. The conclusion of this work is that the paratroopers, albeit subjected to a profound restructuring, were even so still able to perform a sound management of staff and equipment, allowing them to be today one of the most esteemed special troops worldwide. Despite all the current difficulties, the paratroopers are still able to respond to the demands made using all the resources that they have.
