O estágio de natureza profissional do Mestrado em Enfermagem Médico-Cirúrgica, na área de
Enfermagem à Pessoa em Situação Perioperatória, permite a integração e aplicação de
conhecimentos científicos, técnicos e ético-legais em contexto clínico. Num ambiente
caracterizado pela sua complexidade, a Enfermagem desempenha um papel essencial na
segurança do cliente e na melhoria contínua dos cuidados. Este período formativo contribui para
o desenvolvimento de competências de Enfermagem especializadas, consolidando uma prática
autónoma, crítica e baseada na melhor evidência científica disponível.
O presente relatório, desenvolvido no âmbito do Mestrado em Enfermagem Médico-Cirúrgica, na
área de Enfermagem à Pessoa em Situação Perioperatória, integra-se como componente de
avaliação final e constitui-se como um exercício de reflexão crítica sobre os cuidados de
Enfermagem prestados no contexto perioperatório, estruturando-se em três partes
complementares.
Na primeira parte apresenta-se a caracterização do contexto clínico. Na segunda parte explorase
a conceção de cuidados de Enfermagem orientada para a determinação e prevenção de
complicações associadas à cirurgia vascular da carótida, com ênfase na endarterectomia
carotídea realizada sob anestesia locorregional. Trata-se de um procedimento de elevada
complexidade e risco, que exige uma abordagem rigorosa, sustentada em intervenções
individualizadas e fundamentadas na melhor evidência disponível. A vigilância e monitorização
contínuas no perioperatório, a avaliação neurológica intraoperatória em tempo real, a deteção
precoce de alterações na condição de saúde do cliente e a transição segura de cuidados
constituem elementos-chave do plano de cuidados concebido. A utilização de anestesia
locorregional possibilita uma abordagem de Enfermagem relevante durante o período
intraoperatório, reforçando a segurança do cliente e contribuindo para a eficácia global da
intervenção cirúrgica.
Na terceira parte procede-se à descrição e análise crítica e reflexiva das atividades realizadas
no decurso do estágio profissional, com vista ao desenvolvimento e consolidação das
competências comuns e específicas do enfermeiro especialista em Enfermagem Médico-
Cirúrgica. Este percurso formativo privilegiou a prática baseada em evidência, o processo de
tomada de decisão informado e a integração de princípios éticos e legais na gestão e prestação
de cuidados diferenciados. A imersão no contexto perioperatório permitiu reforçar a autonomia
profissional, a capacidade crítica e reflexiva sistemática e a aptidão para responder aos desafios complexos dos cuidados.
Este relatório pretende constituir-se como um contributo para a melhoria contínua da qualidade
dos cuidados de Enfermagem prestados à pessoa em situação perioperatória, promovendo a
excelência dos cuidados e a segurança do cliente, num contexto técnico-científico desafiante e
em constante evolução.
The professional internship of the Master's Degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing, in the field of Perioperative Nursing, enables the integration and application of scientific, technical, and ethical-legal knowledge in clinical practice. In a highly complex environment, the specialist nurse plays a key role in ensuring patient safety and continuously improving the quality of care. This training period contributes to the development of specialized Nursing competencies, reinforcing an autonomous, critical, and evidence-based practice. This report, developed as part of the Master's Degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing, in the field of Perioperative Nursing, is integrated as a final assessment component and serves as a critical reflection exercise on Nursing care provided in the perioperative context. It is structured into three complementary sections. The first section presents the characterization of the clinical context. The second section explores the design of Nursing care aimed at the identification and prevention of complications associated with carotid vascular surgery, with a particular focus on carotid endarterectomy performed under regional anesthesia. This is a highly complex and high-risk procedure that demands a rigorous approach, supported by individualized interventions grounded in the best available evidence. Continuous perioperative monitoring, real-time intraoperative neurological assessment, early detection of changes in the patient's condition, and the safe transition of care are key elements of the designed care plan. The use of locoregional anesthesia enables a relevant Nursing approach during the intraoperative period, enhancing patient safety and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the surgical intervention. The third section presents a descriptive, critical, and reflective analysis of the activities carried out during the professional internship, aimed at developing and consolidating both general and specific competencies of the specialist nurse in Medical-Surgical Nursing. This formative experience prioritized evidence-based practice, informed decision-making processes, and the integration of ethical and legal principles in the management and provision of specialized care. The immersion in the perioperative setting strengthened professional autonomy, systematic critical and reflective thinking, and the ability to respond to the complex challenges of care delivery. This report aims to contribute to the continuous improvement of Nursing care quality for patients in perioperative settings, promoting excellence in care and ensuring patient safety within a highly demanding and ever-evolving technical-scientific context.
