Abstract(s)
No
Nurses are considered a professional group with a high risk of contracting musculoskeletal lesions injuries related to work (MSLRW) due to the characteristics of their activity involving a series of physical activities, such as moving and positioning patients, lifting, and transporting equipment, and working on uncomfortable positions for long periods. The scientific community has studied this subject in nursing, however, there are few studies regarding the risk and prevalence of MSLRW in the daily practice of nurse midwives and obstetric nurses (NMON). The literature about MSLRW indicates that the risk factors and preventive measures are well informed. However, an important point is the awareness of NMON on these risk factors. Creating an evaluation scale will allow for assessing the practices and behaviors of the MON that contribute to the risk of MSLRW. Hence, it can be a valuable tool for helping specialists identify and evaluate the risk factors associated with their professional activity, thus being able to adopt preventive and suitable measures to reduce the incidence of these lesions. The research question guiding this study is: What items should integrate an assessment scale of the practices and behaviors that configure the risk of MSLRW in the NMON? The objectives are: to contribute to developing nursing knowledge about the risk factors of NMON concerning MSLRW; to Produce a scoping review of MSLRW risk assessment scales in NMON; and to build a practices and behaviors assessment scale that is sensitive to assess the risk of MSLRW in the NMON. The study is quantitative and focuses on the protocol predefined by Waltz, Strickland, and Lenz. The content assessment of the scale was performed by a panel of 10 experts with knowledge and competence to fulfill the representativeness and adequacy of items compared to the construct. The process respected the requirements of the Delphi. Three rounds were needed to reach the consensus between experts. Content Validity Context was applied to obtain content validation in compliance with items, the interrater agreement was also applied to gauge the interrater agreement. The final scale consists of five dimensions with a total of 69 items.
