Abstract(s)

O tema desta dissertação incide na investigação do atirador sniper nas áreas edificadas, sendo que, o seu principal objectivo é perceber se o emprego do sniper se justifica, ou não, nestas áreas de operações. A abordagem ao tema visa perceber se as operações em áreas edificadas, perante o actual ambiente operacional, se justificam. Como tal, a opção de estudo recaiu sobre os factores que influenciam o ambiente operacional, bem como, asua caracterização actual. Posteriormente a esta caracterização global, aprofundou-se a temática das áreas edificadas, para perceber até que ponto é que estas se distinguem das outras áreas de operações, e que características possuem. Nesta investigação houve uma pretensão em caracterizar o sniper ao nível das suas valências, do material e equipamento que utiliza, eo modo como é empregue. Após a sua definição e caracterização, fez-se uma análise da aplicação do sniper nas áreas edificadas e de que modo é que as características de ambos se interligam. A pesquisa bibliográfica realizada permitiu constatar as capacidades dos snipers e o modo como estas se podem adaptar às áreas edificadas, sendo no final feita uma alusão ao caso português para possíveis alterações ao nível da doutrina em vigor.

Abstract The theme of this research focuses on the sniper inurban areas, with the aim of the work realise if the sniper employment are justified in urban areas. The study examined the factors which influence the operational environment and if operations in urban areas are justified. The study began with the characterization of the current operational environment. After that we study the urban areas to realize the differences between them and others areas of operations. Them we characterized a sniper, their equipment andmaterial that they use for accomplish the mission. After that we made a analysis of the employment of a sniper in urban areas, and how the caracteristics of both are related. With the literature research we had seen the capabilities of snipers and how they can adapt to the urban environment. In that way at the end of the study we made an allusion to the portuguese case, for possible changes in current doctrine.
