Abstract(s)
O presente trabalho tem como objeto de estudo o Sistema de Apoio de Fogos (SAF) no Exército Português, centrando-se na Artilharia de Campanha (AC) e nos seus componentes essenciais: sistemas de armas e munições, aquisição de objetivos e comando, controlo e coordenação. O estudo do problema advém da evolução do campo de batalha atual, no qual o Apoio de Fogos tem tido um papel preponderante. A investigação visa propor linhas de ação para a modernização da AC no âmbito da Força Terrestre de Próxima Geração (FTPG). Para tal, adotou-se uma metodologia de abordagem qualitativa, com raciocínio de natureza indutiva, assente num desenho de pesquisa de estudo de caso, recorrendo-se à análise documental e à realização de entrevistas semiestruturadas a especialistas nacionais e internacionais. A análise dos dados revelou que a modernização do SAF é indispensável para superar a obsolescência crítica, garantir conformidade com os requisitos NATO e potenciar a eficácia operacional da FTPG em múltiplas dimensões. Foram ainda identificados desafios estruturais e condições críticas para o sucesso da transformação. O estudo culmina com a formulação de linhas de ação, sustentadas numa análise SWOT, que visam orientar a modernização da AC com os compromissos internacionais e com os requisitos da FTPG.
The object of this study is the Fire Support System (FSS) in the Portuguese Army, focusing on the Field Artillery (FA) and its essential components: weapons and ammunition systems, target acquisition and command, control and coordination. The study of the problem stems from the evolution of the current battlefield, in which Fire Support has been playing a leading role. The research aims to propose lines of action for the modernization of FA within the framework of the Next Generation Land Force (NGLF). To this end, a qualitative approach was adopted, with inductive reasoning, based on a case study research design, using document analysis and semi-structured interviews with national and international experts. The analysis of the data revealed that the modernization of the FSS is essential to overcome critical obsolescence, ensuring compliance with NATO requirements and enhance the operational effectiveness of the NGLF across multiple dimensions. Structural challenges and critical conditions for the success of the transformation were also identified. The study culminates with the formulation of lines of action, supported by a SWOT analysis, which aim to guide the modernization of the national FA in line with international commitments and NGLF requirements.
