Abstract(s)
Todas as escolhas que realizamos são fundamentadas em processos cognitivos, crenças individuais, experiências pessoais e preferências subjetivas, que influenciam uma ampla gama de fatores que, conscientes ou inconscientemente, equacionamos antes de efetuarmos uma escolha. A escolha da Especialidade do Mestrado Integrado em Ciências Militares da Academia Militar não é exceção. Os Fatores Motivacionais levados em consideração e ponderados variam de indivíduo para individuo, e, nesse sentido, o nosso objetivo é identificar e analisar os fatores motivacionais responsáveis pelas variações na ordem de preenchimento das vagas nas Armas do Mestrado Integrado em Ciências Militares.
De forma a cumprir os objetivos propostos recorremos a uma metodologia mista, com realização de inquéritos por entrevista e inquéritos por questionário aos atuais cadetes de 4º ano, Aspirantes, bem como a Oficiais Subalternos, Capitães e Oficiais Superiores de Infantaria, Artilharia e Cavalaria, desde que não tenham ingressado na Academia Militar em data anterior a 1990.
Os resultados revelaram que os fatores responsáveis pelas variações na ordem do preenchimento das vagas das Especialidades do Mestrado Integrado em Ciências Militares são os fatores que originam a escolha da Arma de Infantaria e os que originam a não escolha da Arma de Artilharia. Dessa forma, a probabilidade de missões no estrangeiro e a possibilidade de conciliar vida profissional com a vida pessoal, foram identificados como os principais fatores responsáveis pelo preenchimento prioritário das vagas de uma Arma. Constatou-se ainda que, ao longo do período de tempo definido (1990 a 2019), os fatores motivacionais que influenciam a escolha da Arma no âmbito do Mestrado Integrado em Ciências Militares não sofreram mudanças significativas. Isto significa que, as razões pelas quais os atuais cadetes escolhem cada uma das três Armas em causa nos dias de hoje são, de forma geral, as mesmas que os atuais Capitães e Oficiais Superiores equacionavam enquanto cadetes.
All the choices we make are based on personal thoughts, beliefs, experiences and tastes. There is a wide range of factors that we consciously or unconsciously consider before making a choice. Usually, we analyse all the existing options and try to make the choice favourable to us in some way. The choice of the Specialty of the Integrated Masters in Military Sciences of the Military Academy is no exception. The Motivational Factors taken into account vary from individual to individual. In this sense, through this study, we intend to identify and analyse the Motivational Factors responsible for the changes in the order of filling the vacancies of the Arms of the Integrated Masters in Military Sciences. The collection of information from specific entities was crucial to give consistency to the respective work and strengthen the domain of scientific knowledge, in order to increase the credibility of the arguments that will sustain and defend the work. To this end, a mixed methodology was used, with the execution of interview and questionnaire surveys to current 4th year cadets, Aspirants, as well as to Junior Officers, Captains and Senior Officers of the Infantry, Artillery and Cavalry, provided that they did not join the AM before 1990. It was verified that the factors responsible for the changes in the order of filling of vacancies of the Specialties of the Integrated Masters in Military Sciences are exactly the factors that originate the choice of the Infantry and those that originate the non-choice of the Artillery. Thus, the probability of missions abroad and the possibility of reconciling professional and personal life are the factors responsible for a Weapon to fill its available places in the first place. It was also found that, over the defined time span (1990 to 2019), the Motivational Factors responsible for the choice of the Weapon of the Integrated Master of Military Sciences did not undergo significant changes. This means that, the reasons why current cadets choose each of the three Weapons in question today are, in general, the same as those that current Captains and Senior Officers equated as cadets.
