Abstract(s)
Investigação (ICPOL) e o atual Estatuto do ISCPSI.
a linha temática analisada.
The celebration of 40 years of Police Science in Portugal is the starting point for a discovery of four decades of research which, since 1982 with the creation of the Higher Police School (ESP), has highlighted a path of adaptation and progress in higher police education. In 1999, the ESP changed its name to the Higher Institute of Police Sciences and Internal Security (ISCPSI) and, over the years, the Research Center (ICPOL) and the current ISCPSI Statute emerged. After 40 years, the aim is to explore the body of knowledge under the thematic line of research Police Work and Organization and, specifically, the preponderance of the themes of police work, organization and administration, looking at the period, method, theme and course with the highest prevalence in these areas. A qualitative, empirical study was carried out, with an applied purpose, using bibliographic and documentary analysis, fieldwork and a systematic literature review. The results obtained show that, of the 152 publications included, the years 2010 to 2019 concentrate the greatest number of studies, the qualitative method through interviews was the main choice of trainees, police activity was the predominant theme in these 40 years and the Police Command and Direction Course (CCDP) made the greatest contribution to the thematic line analyzed. The conclusion is that, for the exponential development of the Police Sciences, it would be desirable to study all the themes inherent in the line of research, since for the less attractive ones, such as police administration and its value chain, it is suggested that priority be given to the development of new studies in these areas, with the aim of investment, updating, innovation and attractiveness, in balance in the various courses, projecting the maximization of the Police Sciences.
