Abstract(s)
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) presents significant challenges in the educational context, particularly in literacy. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has proven to be an effective approach for developing academic skills in children with ASD, using evidence-based behavioral strategies. This report investigates the implementation of ABA strategies in the literacy process of autistic children in an inclusive school setting. Interventions were conducted in four public schools in Salvador-BA, involving five children with ASD and eight teachers, focusing on improving reading, writing, and behavior skills. The results indicate significant progress in the children's academic abilities, as well as a reduction in challenging behaviors. Additionally, teachers reported increased confidence and competence in applying ABA techniques, which contributed to improving pedagogical practice. The study suggests that continuous teacher training in ABA is essential to ensure the effective inclusion of children with ASD in the school environment.
