Abstract(s)
Digital Health Literacy constitutes an essential dimension in care practice, since families’ search for information in non-validated sources can generate insecurity and increase stress in the management of acute illness. Considering the importance of parental empowerment through the promotion of Digital Health Literacy for the management of acute illness in children during the first year of life, this report aims to critically analyze the training path undertaken. It therefore intends to describe and reflect on the competencies acquired at the master’s level, as well as on the common and specific competencies of the Specialist Nurse in Child and Paediatric Health Nursing. The training path was supported by Nola Pender’s Health Promotion Model, in articulation with Family-Centered Care, the Partnership-in-Care Model, and Afaf Meleis’ Transitions Theory, which reinforced the active participation of families and support in moments of vulnerability. The methodology adopted integrated research in scientific databases, needs assessment, elaboration of practice-standardizing documents, development of bilingual educational instruments, and the implementation of health education sessions, as well as the systematic evaluation of interventions. Among the activities developed in different contexts, the creation of the PediArtCare page stands out as a means of continuous promotion of Digital Health Literacy. The interventions carried out in the different contexts evidenced health gains, greater confidence and autonomy of families, as well as the consolidation of professional competencies, sustaining an advanced, ethical, and evidence-based practice.
