O presente Relatório de Estágio de Natureza Profissional tem como objetivo analisar criticamente
o processo de aquisição e consolidação das competências técnicas, científicas, relacionais e éticas
do Enfermeiro Especialista em Enfermagem de Saúde Materna e Obstétrica (EEESMO),
desenvolvidas ao longo dos ensinos clínicos. A análise retrospetiva do percurso formativo articula
normativos profissionais, referenciais teóricos contemporâneos e prática baseada na evidência. O
enquadramento conceptual integra as Teorias de midwifery, o modelo de Cuidados Centrados na
Mulher e os Padrões de Qualidade dos Cuidados de Enfermagem, tendo a Teoria das Transições de
Afaf Meleis como elemento integrador.
A prática clínica decorreu nos diferentes contextos do ciclo gravídico-puerperal, permitindo
contacto direto e continuado com mulheres, casais e famílias em situações de gravidez de baixo e
alto risco, trabalho de parto, parto, puerpério e cuidados ao recém-nascido. São representados 5
casos clínicos representativos destas áreas, que evidenciam a conceção de cuidados especializados
e onde foram desenvolvidas competências comuns e específicas da especialidade, consolidando
raciocínio clínico, tomada de decisão fundamentada e capacidade de adaptação às necessidades
individuais das mulheres e famílias. O cuidado prestado assumiu uma perspetiva relacional,
salutogénica e centrada na promoção das capacidades da mulher, fortalecendo confiança, controlo
e experiência positiva dos processos reprodutivos.
O relatório inclui ainda uma revisão integrativa da literatura sobre o tema “Acompanhamento
clínico da mulher que amamenta, por parte da EESMO, após o regresso a casa”, motivada pela
identificação de dificuldades frequentes vivenciadas pelas mulheres no período pós-alta. Esta
revisão permitiu reunir e sistematizar evidência científica sobre os fatores que influenciam o
sucesso e a continuidade da amamentação, assim como sobre as intervenções de enfermagem
especializada mais eficazes, contribuindo para o desenvolvimento de uma prática profissional
crítica, reflexiva e fundamentada na melhor evidência disponível.
Este percurso formativo revelou-se determinante para a construção da minha identidade
profissional como EEESMO, integrando teoria, prática e investigação, e afirmando o compromisso
com cuidados especializados, humanizados e centrados na mulher, no recém-nascido e na família,
promovendo transições saudáveis ao longo do ciclo gravídico-puerperal e reforçando a relevância
da intervenção especializada na promoção da saúde materna e obstétrica.
The present Professional Internship Report aims to critically analyse the process of acquisition and consolidation of the technical, scientific, relational, and ethical competencies of the Specialist Midwife in Maternal and Obstetric Health (EEESMO), developed throughout clinical teaching. The retrospective analysis of the training pathway integrates professional regulations, contemporary theoretical frameworks, and evidence-based practice. The conceptual framework incorporates Midwifery Theories, the Woman-Centred Care model, and Nursing Care Quality Standards, with Afaf Meleis’ Transition Theory serving as an integrating element. Clinical practice took place across the different contexts of the pregnancy-puerperal cycle, allowing direct and continuous contact with women, couples, and families in situations of low- and high-risk pregnancy, labour, childbirth, the postpartum period, and newborn care. Five representative clinical cases from these areas are presented, illustrating the provision of specialised care and demonstrating the development of both common and specific competencies of the specialty, consolidating clinical reasoning, evidence-informed decision-making, and the ability to adapt to the individual needs of women and families. The care provided adopted a relational, salutogenic perspective, focused on enhancing women’s capacities, thereby strengthening confidence, control, and positive experiences throughout reproductive processes. The report also includes an integrative literature review on the topic “Clinical follow-up of breastfeeding women by the SMMO after returning home”, motivated by the identification of common difficulties experienced by women in the post-discharge period. This review allowed the gathering and systematisation of scientific evidence regarding the factors influencing the success and continuity of breastfeeding, as well as the most effective specialised nursing interventions, contributing to the development of a critical, reflective professional practice grounded in the best available evidence. This training pathway proved decisive in shaping my professional identity as an SMMO, integrating theory, practice, and research, and affirming my commitment to specialised, humanised, and woman-centred care for the mother, newborn, and family, promoting healthy transitions throughout the pregnancy-puerperal cycle and reinforcing the relevance of specialised intervention in the promotion of maternal and obstetric health.
